What am I paying for?

A - You are only paying for the following:

  • One time fee for a SIM Card -coverage in more than 160 countries
  • One time fee for an unlocked quad band GSM handset (if you ordered one)
  • Only for outgoing SMS (incoming is free)
  • Only for what you talk.
  • No contracts no commitments (Prepaid Service)

What do I need to do to activate the service?

A - Each user will receive a SIM card that is already pre-activated.
  • Insert the SIM in the phone (Make sure it is unlocked and operates on the proper frequency.) All phones provided by GlobalAirtime are unlocked, quad band, and thus can operate on any GSM system now in use.
  • Turn on your phone _
  • Wait for 90 seconds. During this time your phone is setting up your new Global SIM and registering with a roaming partner"s system.
  • Start talking. This procedure will take place each time you use a handset for the 1st time.

How do I make a call?

A - Dial the full number including country code, area code, phone number. Do not enter any leading zeros. Eg, 1-212-333-3333 or 44-3xxxxxxxxxx.

What about my incoming calls to my home based cellular phone?

A - You can FORWARD your normal incoming calls to the local number that you have received from us.
The callers will only pay for a call to a local number_ not an international number! Never miss a call!

I want to listen to my voice mail:

A - Dial *151 from your CelTrek phone

Trouble Shooting:

A - I can"t make a call:
  1. Dial the full number: country code, area code, phone number and press SEND (Omit leading zeros in the number you are calling.) The service will call you in about 5 seconds.
  2. If the service is not calling you back - change network. (Follow the instructions from your phone"s menu)
  3. If you still can"t make a call - call our customer support at +1 305 249 3121

How do I know my user ID and password?

A - You can find your user number in the Welcome Folder and on the pocket guide that came with the Global SIM card package.

Can I personalize my voice mail announcer?

A - Yes. Dial *151 and follow the instructions

What can I do when the call quality or reception is bad?

A - Make sure you have a good signal. If you don"t have a full signal, the line may be at fault. Please hang up and redial the number. If the problem continues to occur, you can change network from your phone"s menu (go to network selection " manual " choose network from list). Make sure you are not choosing the same network you were assigned to at first.

Can I see the last numbers I dialed?

A - Yes. Go to menu " CelTrek " dialed numbers

I realize incoming calls are answered in normal fashion. Why do outgoing calls involve extra steps?

A - One of the reasons we can offer such low rates is because we make use of advanced technology combined with landlines and traditional communication. This allows us to bypass the "regular" roaming fees and offer better prices on your cellular calls.

The extra few seconds it takes to place a call is insignificant when compared with the amount of money saved, especially since you can dial as you are used to - using your phone book to dial any number.

The user does not notice any difference except when the system is calling him back.
As soon as you dial the number you want, the phone will display "calling". Instead of the call being routed over expensive cellular lines in the country you are visiting, our advanced system instantly starts processing the call. In a few seconds your phone will ring. You answer the phone as usual and will now be connected to your destination.

Does your Global SIM card work in every mobile phone?

A - The CelTrek SIM card works in most of the current GSM handsets, which are unlocked. Be sure you have an unlocked phone. Older cellular phones may require you to make use of a menu in your phone to place outgoing calls. (This method is described below.)

How do I activate my SIM card?

A - Our Global SIM cards will automatically activate the service the 1st time you use it.
Once you have received your SIM card, just insert the SIM card into your mobile phone in the SIM socket behind the battery. Replace the battery and cover, turn on your phone, and wait for 90 seconds.

If you have an older phone (2-3 years old), you may have to manually activate the service: Go to the phones main menu, select the “CelTrek” icon (It may be located under “Office Tools”) select "Activate - On"

Please check the following:
  • You have an unlocked phone that operates on the proper frequency. If your phone displays "SIM not accepted", or "Emergency calls only" your phone is "SIM locked" or you are attempting to register on a non-CelTrek network.
  • Do you have airtime credit?

My SIM card does not show any network?

A - Make sure your phone is supported in the country where you are using it.

A. Do you have a quad band phone, (850/900/1800/1900 MHz will cover all destinations)

My phone shows "phone locked", or "Enter Subsidy Code" or "Phone Restricted" or "insert SIM"?

A - Most phones bought from GSM carriers/ operators are usually locked to accept only the SIM card of that particular carrier.
  1. Some carriers will provide you with the SIM unlock code once you have been a customer for a few months.
  2. Otherwise use the yellow pages, or the internet to find someone who will unlike your multi-band phone.. Cost should be about $20 to $30.
  3. Google "unlock cellular phones" and you might find a list of websites offering the service for free.

When does the CelTrek SIM card and airtime credit expire?

A - Your CelTrek SIM card will never expire as long as:
  1. You have a credit of over $50, OR
  2. You recharge your account at least every six months.
You can always reactivate an expired card and recoup any credits with payment of a $15 reactivation fee. However, we can"t guarantee you will be able to retain the same phone number once an account has been deactivated for more than 30 days

How do I make a call?

A - Always dial the full international number even if you call a local number.
You can omit entering a "+" sign before the number...(no need for leading zero"s) or the international access code. Simply dial the country and city code. Then press "send".

Example: To call a U.S. number: enter 1 then (area code) (7 digit phone number) To call the UK: enter 44 then (phone number) etc.

When does the call charge start?

A - You charges start only when the service calls you back and connects you to the destination you are asking to reach.

What charging increments (intervals) do we use?

A - The charging increment is 30 seconds in most countries.
However, some countries impose a surcharge (RPP) on incoming calls.
Unfortunately we have to include these surcharges in our rates. However, CelTrek is working to form other agreements to reduce or eliminate these charges so your charges can be even lower.
Currently, in the following countries we must bill in one minute increments. Among the 20+ countries that impose these charges are: USA, Russia, Argentina, India.

What is my phone number to receive calls?

A - During the order process, you would have chosen an area code within the USA. The actual phone number assigned to your CelTrek SIM will be in the package you received from CelTrek.

RECOMMENDED:
Forward all your calls from your personal Mobile phone to your CelTrek number to ensure you never miss a call! (See your phone"s menu for simple forwarding instructions)

How do I divert my calls from my personal cellular phone to the CelTrek incoming number?

A - With most cellular phones this option will be under phone menu " tools or phone menu " settings.
